From the age of three, she began learning Amami Shimauta (island songs) from her grandfather and went on to win numerous awards at Shimauta competitions.

In 2005, after performing at the opening event of the Expo 2005 Aichi, produced by Kansai Yamamoto, she made her professional debut.

In 2013, she took on the challenge of auditioning through a general application and, despite it being her first experience in musical theater, successfully passed. She played Fantine in the newly staged Les Misérables and continued in the same role for the 2015 production.

In 2016, she performed at a vocal music festival in Corsica, France.

She also appeared in ICON, a production by Belgian choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, at the Göteborg Opera in Sweden.

That same year, she held her first solo Shimauta live concert in New York.

She formed the unique duo Anna Sato × Toshiyuki Sasaki, blending Shimauta with drumming styles inspired by jazz, R&B, and hip-hop, creating a new genre-defying sound. In 2017, they successfully held a solo concert in Paris, France.

In 2018, she collaborated with renowned flamenco artist Eva Yerbabuena. Their stage production, Cuentos de Azúcar – Tales of Sugar, was highly acclaimed in international performances across Spain and France.

In 2018, she participated as a vocalist in the main theme of the historical drama Segodon, captivating audiences with her powerful voice. She also appeared in the drama as Chiyokane Sato, the sister-in-law of Aikana.

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she began performing in the natural landscapes of Amami Oshima, sharing the island’s beauty and the joy of music with the world through live-streamed performances.

In 2023, she lent her voice to Fūka, a character from the Surimi Union in Splatoon 3.

That same year, Anna Sato × Toshiyuki Sasaki performed at the opening ceremony of the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C., receiving high praise.

Also in 2023, she appeared in Yachabou Utau Nagu, a production by Dairakudakan, led by Akaji Maro.
